Clinical Trials Registration and Disclosure

CIHR is aware that registrations on ClinicalTrials.gov are currently impacted by the United States government shutdown.

In accordance with the WHO Joint statement on public disclosure of results from clinical trials, CIHR requires that clinical trials are registered in a publicly available, free to access, searchable clinical trial registry complying with WHO’s international agreed standards before the first visit of the first participant.

Researchers may use other registries in order to meet CIHR’s requirements.

Current acceptable alternatives to ClinicalTrials.gov include:

• Primary registries in the WHO registry network
• ICMJE approved registry

CIHR will continue to monitor the situation as it progresses and communicate any additional relevant information.
