Instructors
Matthew Fairlie
Matthew Fairlie has over 45 years’ experience with hydrogen systems beginning when he was a graduate student at the University of Toronto where he built the first road certified hydrogen car in Canada.
He was a Founder of Next Hydrogen Corporation, and served as CEO and Vice Chair. Prior to this he was Executive Vice President, Founder and CTO of Stuart Energy; has served as a Director and Board Vice Chairman of the National Hydrogen Association in Washington DC; Founder and Chairman of the Reduce the Juice Project youth-led climate change initiative; Founder, first Chairman of Hydrogen Business Council of Canada; and has served on numerous other boards.
Matthew received an MSc in Solid State Physics from the University of Toronto and a DBA from Queens University Kingston Canada. He holds 17 US patents and has published over 30 articles on hydrogen, renewable energy and climate change.
Dave Haberman
Dave Haberman is a technologist and business leader with 44 years of professional experience. He started his career working on cryogenic hydrogen energy systems for the Strategic Defense Initiative. After a successful career in aerospace working on advanced systems for NASA he founded Diversified Commercial Hydrogen Technology in California. He built the company from 1 person to a team of 146 people, listed on the the (AMEX:DCHT) and teamed with major integrators including Westinghouse and Allied Signal. A notable accomplishment was his leadership in the instrumentation of the RBMK nuclear reactor facilities in Eastern Europe with DCH’s advanced hydrogen specific sensors. He was designated a hydrogen expert by the U.S. Secretary of Energy and served on the Hydrogen Technical Advisory Panel to the U.S. Congress. Since his retirement from DCH he has specialized in hydrogen specific enterprise and product development. He developed one of the largest utility level carbon capture and sequestration systems in the United States for a major utility. He developed a mobile hydrogen fueling system for the American Automobile Association. Mr. Haberman has just completed his tenure at Canadian Tire developing multiple hydrogen production installations. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Hydrogen Business Council and is the editor of HBC’s new hydrogen magazine. He holds six USPTO awarded patents with four additional patents pending.
