2025 URAs Recognition Event
On Wednesday, August 13, we brought together our student award recipients, their project supervisors, esteemed guests and members of our Ontario Tech community to celebrate the accomplishments of the recipients of the 2025 Undergraduate Research Awards. This event was hybrid. Family and friends tuned in virtually.
Agenda:
The event was hosted in the Business and IT Building (BIT / UB). Please view the Ontario Tech map for directions. Complimentary parking was available in the Founders 2 parking lot. Staff and Faculty wore their university name tags, as disposable name tags were not be distributed in the spirit of being environmentally friendly.
10:00 a.m. – Registration in BIT/UB Atrium; Light Refreshments in BIT/UB Mezzanine (2nd floor)
10:30 a.m. – Land Acknowledgement & Welcome in BIT/UB 2080
10:35 a.m. – Greetings from Les Jacobs, Vice-President, Research & Innovation
10:40 a.m. – Greetings from Jennifer Freeman, Executive Director, Office of Research Services
10:50 a.m. - Esteemed Guest Speaker, Keisha Deoraj, PhD Candidate and Past URA Recipient
11:20 a.m. – Awarding of Certificates to Student Award Recipients
11:40 a.m. – Closing Remarks - Patil Mksyartinian, Past Alumni Association Council Chair
noon – Lunch and Networking in BIT/UB Mezzanine (2nd floor)
3MT-style Video Competition:
Student Award Recipients were asked to submit a 3MT-style video summarizing their summer of research. View the student video submissions on our YouTube page. Congratulations to Miles Forint for receiving the most votes for his video submission which highlighted his research into "Strategies for Cleaning Autonomous Vehicle Sensors in Adverse Weather".
