2024 URAs Recognition Event
On Wednesday, August 14, we brought together our student award recipients, their project supervisors, esteemed guests and members of our Ontario Tech community to celebrate the accomplishments of the recipients of the 2024 Undergraduate Research Awards. This event was hybrid. Family and friends tuned in virtually.
Agenda:
The event was hosted in UB – Business and IT Building. Please view the Ontario Tech map for directions. Complimentary parking was available in the Founders 2 parking lot. Staff and Faculty wore their university name tags, as disposable name tags were not distributed in the spirit of being environmentally friendly.
10:00 a.m. – Registration in UB Atrium; Light Refreshments in UB Mezzanine (2nd floor)
10:30 a.m. – Land Acknowledgement & Welcome in UB 2080
10:35 a.m. – Greetings from Jennifer Freeman, Executive Director, Office of Research Services
10:45 a.m. - Esteemed Guest Speaker and Q&A - Samantha Stahlke, 3-time URA Recipient, Ontario Tech Alumna
11:15 a.m. – Awarding of Certificates to Student Award Recipients
11:35 a.m. – Closing Remarks from Patil Mksyartinian, Chair, Ontario Tech Alumni Association Council
noon – Lunch and Networking
3MT-style Video Competition:
Student Award Recipients were asked to submit a 3MT-style video summarizing their summer of research. View the student video submissions on our YouTube page. Congratulations to Tania Mandiangu for receiving the most votes for her video submission which highlighted her research into "Red Blood Cell Physiology in Athletes".
