The Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), the Academy Company for Information, Communication Technology and Business Services (ACICT) and Ontario Tech University have partnered to host a summit to highlight the numerous applications of innovative clean energy technologies, renewables, integrated systems and small modular reactors alongside conventional energy systems in the pursuit of achieving net-zero and sustainable development goals.
This event is directed to researchers, scientists, young professionals, decision-makers, entrepreneurs and policymakers in sustainable energy systems as well as energy planners and economists, sustainability and climate change experts with a wide range of the sector different aspects including the coupling with industrial applications and hydrogen plants ranging from its production to storage, and the involved supply chain end-use applications.

Bismark Tyobeka, PhD
Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the North-West University, South Africa
Professor Bismark Tyobeka is the principal and vice-chancellor of North-West University (NWU), one of the largest universities in South Africa. NWU ranks among top universities locally, in Africa and globally. Professor Tyobeka is an internationally recognized expert in clean energy. During his tenure at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Dr Tyobeka advised Member States in the development of new nuclear power programs. He has an established record building and maintaining relationships with government, industry regulators, partners, suppliers and internal team members. Professor Bismark was recently awarded the prestigious National Order of Merit of France on May 24th, 2024.
Vladimir Artisiuk, PhD
SMR Expert, IAEA
Dr. Vladimir Artisiuk has a great deal of experience coordinating training programs to provide knowledge transfer in support of national power infrastructure development. He currently serves as a small modular reactor (SMR) expert for the IAEA. Dr. Artisiuk has worked Tokyo Institute of Technology, and also served as Vice-director for International Activities, Director of the Department of International Activities of the Technical Academy of ROSATOM.
Hossam Kishawy, PhD
Dean of Engineering and Applied Science, Ontario Tech University
Professor Hossam Kishawy is a renowned researcher in the field of advanced manufacturing and is currently the Chair of the Deans of Engineering faculties in all Canadian universities and colleges. He has received numerous honours for his work in engineering and research and is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, Fellow of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, Member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and a Senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Helen Drummond, PhD
Director of the Centre for Applied Radiation Science and Technology, North-West University, South Africa
Helen Drummond holds a B.Sc Honours degree from University of Cape Town, M.Ed from University of Witwatersrand and Ph.D from North-West University. She has taught in the Department of Chemistry, North West University (Mafikeng Campus) for over 30 years. In 2015 she became Acting Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Science and Technology, and in 2018 following restructuring in the university she became Deputy Dean (Teaching and Learning) in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences. She is currently Director of the Centre for Applied Radiation Science and Technology. Her research interests are in the field of Chemical Education, and she is particularly interested in the intellectual skills and strategies needed for the effective learning and application of Chemistry.
Japie Greeff, PhD
Deputy Director - Computer Science & Information Systems, North-West University, South Africa
Prof Japie Greeff is the Deputy Director of the School of Computer Science and Information Systems at NWU. He is also a Subprogram leader in Technology and Capability at the Optentia Research Unit, a member of the Unit for Data Science and Computing, and a NITheCS Associate. Further, he serves as a council member of the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Professional Working Committee of the International Alliance of Skills Development, and serves as the lead expert in the BRICS+ skills development working group for South Africa in the project to create a common skills standard for Data Analysis and Visualisation skills along with other standards. He has worked to develop a common skills standard for Data Analysis and Visualisation along with other standards. He holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering with a focus in engineering education and his main areas of interest lie in artificial intelligence, serious game development, gamification and the creation of technology artifacts that impact people on a human level.
AbdEl-Monem El-Sharkawy, PhD
Chairman of the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Egypt
Prof. AbdEl-Monem El-Sharkawy is the chairman of the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) at the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). Dr. El-Sharkawy is also an associate professor at the Systems and Biomedical Engineering (SBME) department, Cairo university. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in SBME, from Cairo University, Egypt. He also received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer engineering from Johns Hopkins University (JHU), MD, USA. Dr. El-Sharkawy is an established scientist co-authoring tens of peer reviewed scientific journal papers, conference presentations and articles as well as three US published patents. Dr. El-Sharkawy instituted NAID’s excellence centre of assistive technology (ECAT) to support research, development and entrepreneurship in this domain towards enabling the assistive technology industry in Egypt. Dr. El-Sharkawy has around 25 years of experience in technology spanning academia, industry, and relevant managerial positions
